The San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge is one of my favorite places on the planet. Usually I am there to photograph wading birds. But this particular year I was there when the poppies were in bloom. My brother-in-law (who is also an avid photographer) and I had a great time. This is my favorite image for March 29.

Our grandson Ryan was awarded his Eagle Scout medal and plaque. His older brother Andrew received his in November 2017. This is my favorite image for March 24.

It is not a great photo from a technical or artistic point of view, but it is a special photo from an emotional point of view. Sunny jumped up in my lap to nap for the evening while I watched TV.

This is a happy sign! Real spring might be arriving soon! This is my first robin of spring, not to see, but to photograph.
It was a cold and snowy St. Patrick’s day in Columbus Ohio, and Sunny and I were out for a walk. The snow depth was perfect for leaving paw prints. This is my favorite photo for March 17.
I’ve always been a mountains kind of person, but after several days at North Myrtle Beach South Carolina I learned how much I loved the beach. Or maybe it was being with family. Or both.
We arrived home from a trip to Iowa and I went to the Doggy Resort (we don’t use the “k”word) to pick up Sunny. This is my favorite photo for March 15.
It was a happy/sad kind of day. Happy because it was my biggest art exhibit to date. Sad because it had come to an end.
Life is more than books (see my last post). Physical activity is important too. This is our grandson Terran on the climbing wall in the Des Moines area. He loves to climb and this as a regular trip for him and his parents. This is my favorite image for March 13.

I had recently acquired an iOptron SkyTracker but cloudy night skies in Columbus Ohio had prevented me from trying it out. My first clear night came during a visit to Lamoni Iowa, a location that is also blessed with dark skies far from big city lights.
It was the license plate that caught my eye. “I be late” struck me as humorous. I wondered what kind of person gets a license plate like that? Are they habitually late, or is it just a joke?
As a very small boy living in Walsenburg Colorado, I could look out our window and see these mountains. They have been special to me ever since.
There was an art exhibit of Chihuly Glass at the Franklin Park Conservatory in Columbus Ohio. I went and took a lot of photos. Eventually the exhibit left town, but a few permanent pieces remained. This is one of them.

It was Communion Sunday and I happened to be seated close to the communion emblems. I put my iPhone very close to the bread tray and created this image. This is my favorite photo for March 6.
I usually don’t post photos of myself, so this is an exception. I was invited to do an exhibit of my work at Changes Salon and Day Spa in Columbus Ohio. It was supposed to be up for two or three months (their usual length for exhibits), but it was so popular they asked me to leave it up for 6 months.
The arrival of a new born baby is a special event, and for reasons you probably would not expect, this was a very significant day.
One of my favorite places in the Fort Worth area is the Buddhist Temple in Keller Texas. Officially know as Wat Buddharatanaram, it is sometimes called Wat Keller for short.
