Today’s favorite photo was a hard choice to make. I looked in my “favorite photos” folder and there are 34 photos taken on September 27. All of them were created in Colorado.
I decided on a photo of a special event. In late September I am usually leading a photography workshop in Colorado, and 2015 was no exception. Our day began an hour before dawn at Sprague Lake and ended late doing night photography. As luck would have it, there was a blood moon lunar eclipse that night. It turned out to be every bit as spectacular as it was expected to be. As the eclipse progressed and exposures got longer I was yelling out instructions to our group. Everyone was excited.
My second favorite photo for September 27 was taken the same evening. In addition to chasing the eclipse, we were also photographing the Milky Way. The fading light in the southwest and the glow of the distant Denver lights in the southeast came together to create wonderful colors.
I captured my third place favorite photo for this date one year ago. I was leading a group photo safari when we found a very cooperative chipmunk who decided to pose for us.
