Upper Tahquamenon Falls

Upper Tahquamenon Falls, Michigan. February 25, 2006.

A winter storm was on the way to Northern Michigan so I hopped in the car February 24, for the long drive from Columbus Ohio to Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. My plan was to beat the storm to St. Ignace. I didn’t quite make it. It was snowing like crazy north of Gaylord, and crossing the Mackinac Bridge was not fun. But I made it safely to St. Ignace.

Tahquamenon Falls, Winter

Upper Tahquamenon Falls, Michigan. February 25, 2006.

The next morning, February 25, the U.P. was a winter wonderland. Fresh, new, powdery snow covered everything. It was a photographer’s paradise. My favorite stop was Tahquamenon Falls State Park and I photographed the upper falls straight on and from the observation deck at the very lip of the falls. These are two of my very best Michigan winter landscape images
