Great Egrets, Territorial Dispute, Don Edwards San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge, Fremont California. June 8, 2015.

Two great egrets got into a territorial fight over a favorite feeding area. The upper egret is coming down at the face of the lower egret with his feet. The lower egret barely got out of the way in time. This is one of my two most favorite photos for this date.

Same location, same day. A great egret comes in for a landing, one wing trailing in the water. This is my other most favorite photo for this date.

Black-crowned Night Heron

And as if that is not enough, this is also the same location, same date. Yes, it was an amazing day. I spotted this Black-crowned Night Heron feeding along the water’s edge. This is my second place favorite photo for this date.

I’ve said this a lot in this series, the Don Edwards San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge is a great place to take pictures.
