My fall in Colorado series.
4 years ago today, Bob Walker (my photo buddy and brother-in-law) and I left his house in Denver at 10:33 am for a short day in the mountains. We drove through Nederland and took pictures along the Peak to Peak Scenic Byway, our preferred route to Rocky.
We had lunch at “Scratch” in Estes Park. Scratch is a great little sandwich and breakfast place near our favorite places to stay near the park entrance. More than a decade ago, Bob and I ate at Scratch the very first day they were open for business. We have been fans ever since and go back whenever we are in Estes.
We created images along Bear Lake Road and in Moraine Park. There was still plenty of fall color at lower elevations.
October 13 is the latest date on the calendar for which I have fall colors of Colorado. As you can see, there was so much good color at lower elevations that it probably lasted several more days.
Based on the signs where they were tethered, we decided these llamas are “Emergency Vehicles” in Rocky Mountain National Park. This was the first time I have seen llamas in The Park
At 4:34 pm we left Rocky and Estes Park to drive back to Denver.
That evening, back in Denver, I checked my heart rate for the day. As you can see from the photo of my watch, my heart rate went up and down as I hiked up and down various hills and ridges to take pictures. I created my own little metaphorical mountain range
