I left Iowa in the morning and arrived at Trillium Ravine near Buchanan Michigan at 5:38 pm. My plan was to capture fall colors before it got too dark. It turns out the best color was on the outside edge of the preserve. The interior of the preserve was still mostly green.
This is what the interior of the preserve looked like. Not as much fall color as I would prefer.
When I lived in Michigan I came here in late April to capture the explosion of white trillium that blanket the preserve and again In late May and early June when it is blanketed in Geranium. I highly recommend this location in late April and late May.
I don’t think of this preserve as a fall color location but I didn’t think I had time to make it to my favorite fall color spots in southwest Michigan before the light was gone. This is my one good fall color image for the day.
