Video: Yosemite and the Range of Light by Ansel Adams

Ansel Adams: Yosemite and the Range of Light.

Marc Silber interviews Michael Adams, son of Ansel Adams, in Ansel’s home and workroom/darkroom. They discuss Adams’ book Yosemite and the Range of Light. “The Range of Light” is the phrase John Muir used to describe the Sierra Nevada. Some video footage of Ansel Adams is included. Watch and learn.

Yosemite and the Range of Light is one of many books by Ansel Adams in my library and it is one of my favorites.

The book was published in 1979 near the end of Adams’ life. Out of 6500 pf his negatives taken in Yosemite and the rest of the Sierra Nevada, Ansel picked 116 photos for this book. The images date from the 1920s to the 1970s.

I read photography books for both information and inspiration and this is one of the books that falls in the inspiration category. Even the very best photographers continue to read photography books.

Yosemite and the Range of Light is out of print but you can order it here from one of Amazon’s third party sellers (click the “Buy at Amazon.com” button). More of Ansel Adam’s wonderful books are here.
