Saturday, March 28, 2026 there was a “No Kings” in Lamoni Iowa, population 2,200. I was out taking pictures for the local newspaper.
I walked down the sidewalk more than once and counted people. When everyone had arrived there were a total of 76 protestors. Ages ranged from just out of collage to senior citizens.
People arrived a little before noon with lawn chairs, picnic coolers, flags, and posters.
The protestors set up on or near the sidewalk along Main Street.
The rally crowd was happy and upbeat.
Whenever anyone would drive by everyone held up their posters and waved small U.S. flags.
Some people who drove by waved and honked their horns.
One person drove by three times, waving and honking his horn. I am pretty sure he did that that one purpose just for the fun of it.
In between cars and trucks passing by people chatted.
The opossum outfit was a favorite.
Some people quietly drove by and quietly ignored the rally going on.
Everyone was respectful. There were no unhappy incidents.
There were a lot of small U.S. flags.
A little after 1 pm everyone packed up and headed for home.
