U.S. 285, one of my favorite highways, enters the north end of the San Luis Valley. On this trip it was a snow covered winter wonderland.
Great Sand Dunes National Park is a great place to take pictures.
Deer were feeding on the sparse vegetation with the dunes in the background.
As it get close to sunset the dunes turn into an almost chocolate brown and the low angle of the sun enhances the wind rippled dunes.
