Lyn came all the way from St. Louis to work with me. The windchill for the outside photo was 4.5 degrees, making it my third coldest portrait shoot ever. Lyn is a cold hardy model<\/span><\/p>\n

When Lyn showed up in Columbus, she brought a boat load of interesting and off the wall clothes, and a personality to match. I had access to three connected and empty rooms in an office complex which made three of these images possible, including the repeating doorway imag<\/span>e below.<\/p>\n

There is a lesson in this image. When I picked my favorites 18 years ago today, the doorway image did not make the cut. It did not interest me at all. But I don\u2019t delete images. Several years ago I pulled the original disc and went through the images again. The doorway image jumped out at me. It is now one of my favorites. I decided to remove all the color from that image except for Lyn and her bold clothes<\/span><\/p>\n

Some images grow on us over time. Others that we initially like a lot can fade in importance over time. Which means photographers should not make irreversible decisions now that the \u201cfuture you\u201d might regret.<\/p>\n
