Bob and I (see my prior post) arrived at Maroon Lake about an hour before sunrise and it was already getting close to crowded around the lake-shore. We picked our spots. People who arrived not too much later than us had to pick spots that would have other people in the frame.<\/span><\/p>\n

One really early arriver was Jay who had picked his spot before we arrived. He was on a rock out in the lake. I named it “Jay’s Rock”. He had an unobstructed view of the lake and the Maroon Bells. We chatted with each other as we took pictures. <\/span><\/p>\n

When he left he “bequeathed” his rock to me. So I thanked him and set up my tripod. Now I had the same unobstructed view. The rock is wet because I had to wade in the shallow water to get to the rock.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

It was exciting when the first rays of sunlight hit the top of the Maroon Bells. Camera shutters were going off like crazy.<\/span><\/p>\n

Just like the night before (see my prior post) when we waited on the moon, we had to wait for the sun to get high enough to light up the aspen on the right side of the frame.\u00a0 It was a gorgeous day. There were a lot of very happy photographers that morning.<\/p>\n

When we left, I said to a nearby photographer, “This is Jay’s Rock. I hereby bequeath his rock to you.”<\/span><\/p>\n
