P<\/strong><strong>ark visitors should be prepared\nto adjust travel plans accordingly and are encouraged to call the park\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Trail\nRidge Road recorded phone line at (970) 586-1222.<\/strong>&nbsp; Park staff will update the recorded line\nduring and after regular office hours, when the road status changes. Alpine\nVisitor Center and Trail Ridge Store are anticipated to open by this weekend.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;\nTrail Ridge Road historically opens on Memorial Day weekend; last year\nthe road opened on May 24, in 2017 it opened on May 31 due to a late May\nsnowstorm.&nbsp; The earliest the road has\nopened was on May 7, 2002; the latest June 26, 1943.&nbsp; Trail Ridge Road is\nthe highest continuous paved road in the United States, climbs to 12,183 feet\nand connects the towns of Estes Park and Grand Lake.&nbsp; Trail Ridge Road officially closed for the\nseason last year on October 31.&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; National\nPark Service plow operators normally begin clearing the snow in the middle of April.&nbsp; Crews from the west side of the park and\ncrews from the east side of the park move along the road and eventually meet at\nthe Alpine Visitor Center.&nbsp; The visitor center\nis the highest in the National Park Service, sitting at 11,796 feet above sea\nlevel.&nbsp; Spring storms often impact\nplowing activities.&nbsp; This year, crews ran\ninto average or below average snowpack in many locations until May when\nnumerous spring storms brought significant snow and drifting above 11,500 feet.&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;\nFor more information about Rocky Mountain National Park visit <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.nps.gov\/romo\">www.nps.gov\/romo<\/a> or call the park\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s\nInformation Office at (970) 586-1206.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Trail Ridge Road is open as of today, but with some precautions and some phone numbers to call to check on unexpected closures.
