April 1, 2017.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Almost every year in the spring we go to California to visit family in the Bay Area, and some years our visit coincides with the bloom of California Golden Poppies.<\/p>\n\n\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We stay in Fremont on the east side of the bay. Fremont is home to the Don Edwards San Francisco By National Wildlife Area. It is a great photo location and one of my favorite places on the planet. At least one or two mornings each trip I drive the 8 miles to the NWR to photograph wading birds, and if I am lucky, poppies.
