The Graceland University choirs and orchestra, under the skilled direction of Sara Blessing and Jack Ergo, did themselves proud Friday night at the Shaw Family Auditorium in Lamoni, Iowa. The evening was filled with beautiful musical renditions.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_22417\" style=\"width: 810px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.blog.jimdoty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/181207-GU-Christmas-Shaw-5D3-4085-w8.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-22417\" class=\"size-full wp-image-22417\" src=\"http:\/\/www.blog.jimdoty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/181207-GU-Christmas-Shaw-5D3-4085-w8.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-22417\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Emily Briggs, Phillip Richard, and Melinda Leoce add some percussion to &#8220;Betelehemu&#8221;.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The theme, Peace on Earth, was brought to life with Christmas music selected from countries around the world. All of the vocal numbers were performed in their original languages with the original languages and English translations printed in the concert program.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_22415\" style=\"width: 810px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.blog.jimdoty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/181207-GU-Christmas-Shaw-5D3-4083-w8.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-22415\" class=\"size-full wp-image-22415\" src=\"http:\/\/www.blog.jimdoty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/181207-GU-Christmas-Shaw-5D3-4083-w8.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-22415\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The choir sings &#8220;Betelehemu&#8221;, a carol from Nigeria.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Some numbers like &#8220;Stille Nacht&#8221; (Silent Night) were very familiar classics while others, like the lively and rhythmic &#8220;Betelehemu&#8221; (about &#8220;Bethlehem, the city of wonder&#8221;) from Nigeria were new.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_22410\" style=\"width: 810px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.blog.jimdoty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/181207-GU-Christmas-Shaw-5D3-4112-4119-w8.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-22410\" class=\"size-full wp-image-22410\" src=\"http:\/\/www.blog.jimdoty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/181207-GU-Christmas-Shaw-5D3-4112-4119-w8.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"405\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-22410\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Beth Presler (left) and Shianne Cook (right) play the solos in J.S.
