Fort Irwin California. September 1, 2013.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>One of my most favorite images for September 1 was taken at Fort Irwin, California, home of the National Training Center for the U.S. Army. We were driving across town when I spotted an unusual cemetery. Names like Simba and Cubby aren&#8217;t typical for a cemetery.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>I asked what this cemetery was for. I was told it was right behind the place where dogs are trained for military service. The cemetery is for dogs who have given their lives in service to our country.
